Please help us continue to support our friends in Kenya through our Scholarship Program!
PETRI is a club started by Mercer Island girls to encourage their peers to consider the opportunities that science can provide. PETRI (Philanthropy, Experiments, Teaching, Research, Involvement) began by inviting science speakers to their school. Philanthropy is the first letter of the club’s name and the PETRI girls are passionate about acting on their club’s mission of philanthropy, and the scholarship is a way to act on that mission.
PETRI partners with SEAVURIA to identify needy girls from Kenya with a promising future. The scholarship is unique in that it forms a friendship between girls across the globe who inspire and support each other.
Last year we raised enough funds to send 16 girls to high school for a year. Your donation will help us to continue to support those 16 friends and also help expand our reach.

SeaVuria - Inspiring students to act globally by connecting them globally!
SEAVURIA is dedicated to connecting students and teachers across the globe, striving to create global awareness and sustainable partnerships.
Using STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) curricula, SEAVURIA engages students in the US and Kenya in synchronous studies designed to foster collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving. Global health scientists mentor students over the web, offering career information and cutting edge science ideas.
Technological tools afford us opportunities to connect and engage young people in discussions about important global issues. They learn from one another, serve as role models for one another, realize opportunities and are inspired to take action. The PETRI scholarship and LifeStraw campaigns are an example of student action projects.
